Yes, I haven’t updated this bloody thing for a long time. My bad. But here I am co-leading a study abroad trip for Longwood University to London, Normandy, and Paris and thought it might make for an interesting project to blog about our European adventures. Ambitious, yes. Doable? We’ll find out.
Here’s a quick overview. Our adventures begin on Monday, May 16th when we leave the States and head across the pond to London. On Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll get tours of London, several different World War II themed-museums, and perhaps the chance to see Taming of the Shrew at the Globe. On the 19th we’ll be taking a ferry all day from Portsmouth to Caen, France. The next day we’ll be visiting the famous D-Day beaches and the American Cemetery. I’ve been there before and can’t wait to return to this highly emotional place.
The following day we’ll be heading out to Rouen in order to see the Cathedral before making our way into Paris for the remainder of the trip. While there we will see the sights as well as the Shoah Memorial, have a walking tour of the 5th arrondissement, visit pere lachaise cemetery, and take in the culture (and food…and wine) of the city of lights! Finally, the group will be heading back to the States on the 24th.
